Scott Lilly, MD, has an extensive educational and professional background in the medical field. He holds degrees and training from several prestigious institutions, including a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio (1977), a DDS and fellowship in oral pathology from the University of Iowa, a residency in oral maxillofacial surgery from Ohio State, an MD and Post Doc in pathology from the Medical University of Ohio, and a residency in internal medicine and fellowship in hematology and oncology from Duke University. Specializing in hematology and oncology, Dr. Lilly also focuses on rheumatology and internal medicine at Axis Healthcare.
Inspired by his father, who was also in healthcare, Dr. Lilly pursued a career in medicine. He has a personal understanding of patient care, having been diagnosed with psoriasis 50 years ago and psoriatic arthritis 10 years later. These experiences have made him compassionate and dedicated to providing the best care for his patients.
Scott wants his patients to know that he genuinely loves taking care of each and every one of them. His personal health experiences allow him to relate to his patients both as a doctor and as someone who has been in their shoes. Patients can expect compassion and understanding when they see him, knowing he strives to ensure they receive the best care possible.
In his personal life, Dr. Lilly enjoys gardening, fishing, bicycling, and watching sports. On weekends, he can often be found gardening, fishing, riding his bike, and watching sports. His favorite sport to watch is basketball, and he is an avid supporter of the Duke Blue Devils. He grew up in a close-knit family with one sister and his parents. He has two children: a 27-year-old son and a 23-year-old daughter currently in law school.
