Born in Drumright, Oklahoma and raised in Kansas, Charlene Hoover brings decades of experience, compassion, and a personal touch to patient care. As a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner, she has spent her career helping patients feel heard, respected, and cared for at every stage of life.
Charlene earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Mary of the Plains College in Wichita, Kansas, and later completed her Nurse Practitioner education at Wichita State University. She has been practicing as a Nurse Practitioner since 2001 and has worked in many different areas of healthcare throughout her career, experiences that have helped shape both her professional knowledge and personal growth.
Before entering medicine, Charlene served approximately six years in the Army Reserves in Kansas. Her passion for healthcare comes from a simple but meaningful desire: helping people. She believes listening is one of the most important parts of caring for patients and strives to build genuine relationships with those she serves. Charlene wants every patient to know they can expect kindness, compassion, respect, and a provider who will always take the time to listen. If she doesn’t immediately have an answer, she is committed to finding one.
Charlene chose to join Axis because of its Christian-centered values, commitment to patients, and support for a healthy work-life balance and professional growth. She values working for an organization that cares deeply about both its team members and the community it serves.
Outside of work, Charlene enjoys spending time with her family, especially her four grandchildren, who lovingly call her “Nene.” She and her husband will celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary this June, and together they have three grown children. In her free time, she loves gardening, reading, being outdoors, and playing with her energetic one-year-old Golden Retriever puppy, Bodie. On weekends, you’ll often find her cheering on her grandchildren at their activities or relaxing in her garden.
Charlene’s warm personality, caring spirit, and sense of humor help patients feel comfortable from the moment they meet her. She believes everyone has a story, and getting to know her patients has been one of the most rewarding parts of her career.
